In a devastating incident, six school children lost their lives while approximately 20 others sustained injuries after a bus carrying them met with a tragic accident in Narnaul, located in Haryana’s Mahendragarh district. The incident unfolded on April 11, shaking the local community and prompting urgent responses from authorities.
According to preliminary reports provided by local law enforcement, the bus overturned while attempting to overtake another vehicle in Kanina town, leading to the fatal outcome. Superintendent of Police for Mahendragarh, Arsh Verma, shared insights with PTI over the phone, revealing that the driver of the ill-fated bus has been apprehended in connection with the incident.
Concerns have been raised regarding the driver’s potential state of intoxication at the time of the accident. Verma addressed these concerns, stating, “We have apprehended him, and his medical examination is being conducted after which we will be able to properly establish whether he was actually drunk or not.” Additionally, reports indicating reckless driving behavior on the part of the driver have surfaced, intensifying scrutiny over the circumstances leading to the tragedy.
The injured children were swiftly transported to a nearby medical facility for urgent treatment, reflecting the rapid response efforts by emergency services in the aftermath of the accident. Haryana’s Education Minister, Seema Trikha, has taken immediate action in light of the incident, reportedly departing for Mahendragarh to assess the situation firsthand and offer support to affected families.
