In videos and social media posts, Keshav Dev, accompanied by his party supporters, was seen wearing a white turban and a garland of slippers while interacting with people on the streets. His message resonated with the crowd as he urged them to “chase away the corrupt with slippers.”
Identifying himself as an independent candidate from the Anti-Corruption Force party in Aligarh, Dev emphasized his commitment to fighting corruption. His campaign slogan, “Chapal lagao brashtacharion ko bhagao (chase away the corrupt with slippers),” struck a chord with voters.
The Lok Sabha polls in Uttar Pradesh, the state with the highest number of MPs, are scheduled to be conducted in seven phases starting from April 19. Aligarh will go to polls in the second phase on April 26.
