Kejriwal and CM Bhagwant Mann unveil revolutionary doorstep delivery of services in Punjab

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann inaugurated the “Bhagwant Mann Sarkar Tuhade Dwar” scheme, aiming to provide 43 citizen-centric services at people’s doorsteps. Kejriwal hailed the initiative as a “revolutionary step” and a significant blow against corruption. The scheme covers essential services like birth certificates, income certificates, and land demarcation. The leaders emphasized the end of common citizens’ inconvenience and humiliation at government offices.

Doorstep Service revolution:

Addressing a gathering, Kejriwal highlighted the historical inconvenience faced by citizens at government offices and the need for a change. The scheme allows citizens to schedule appointments via a dedicated helpline (1076) for the doorstep delivery of government services. Kejriwal drew parallels with Delhi’s similar initiative, questioning why other states had not implemented such services over the past 75 years.
Kejriwal asserted that the scheme represents a substantial blow against corruption in Punjab. He praised the Mann government’s courage in taking actions against corruption, including raids and arrests of those who allegedly exploited the state for 75 years. Kejriwal assured the public that the money paid for various certificates would no longer go to middlemen but would be utilized for public welfare initiatives.

Leaders’ commitment to oversight:

Mann assured regular inspections by himself and MLAs to ensure the scheme’s effectiveness and benefit the common man. He criticized the past 25 years of rule by a few families, alleging exploitation of the state for personal gain. The leaders expressed confidence that the scheme would be remembered as a transformative step in Punjab’s fight against corruption.
