Ludhiana Man Allegedly Stabs Wife to Death in Canada a Week After Arrival

In a tragic turn of events, a 50-year-old man from Ludhiana, identified as Jagpreet Singh alias Raju, stands accused of fatally stabbing his wife in Abbotsford, Canada, just a week after his arrival. The victim, identified as Balwinder Kaur (41) of Mallah village in Jagraon, was found dead late Friday night, sending shockwaves through her family and the local community.

According to the family of the deceased, Jagpreet Singh allegedly committed the heinous act and even went as far as making a video call to his mother in Ludhiana to confess, stating that he had “put her to sleep forever.” The couple reportedly had ongoing disputes, exacerbated by financial struggles and Jagpreet’s insistence on joining his wife in Canada.

Balwinder’s sister, Rajwinder Kaur, revealed that the couple’s relationship had been strained due to Jagpreet’s relentless pressure to move to Canada, where Balwinder had been working to support their daughter’s medical treatment and education. Despite Balwinder’s efforts to manage the expenses and send money to Jagpreet, he allegedly stopped working and continued to demand relocation, leading to escalating tensions.

The incident unfolded when Abbotsford police responded to reports of an assault at the couple’s home on Wagner Drive. Jagpreet Singh was apprehended at the scene and subsequently charged with second-degree murder.

Balwinder’s elderly father, Himmat Singh, expressed shock and devastation over the loss of his daughter, who had been supporting her family both in Canada and back home in Punjab. The family recounted Jagpreet’s persistent harassment and manipulation, culminating in the tragic loss of Balwinder’s life.

As investigations continue into the motive behind the brutal attack, the family mourns the loss of Balwinder and seeks justice for her untimely death. They emphasize the need for the strictest punishment for Jagpreet Singh, who has been arrested in connection with the crime, according to Canadian media reports. The community stands in solidarity with the grieving family as they navigate this heartbreaking tragedy.
