Senior Nurse Dies by Suicide in Chandigarh

On Monday, inside a lavatory connected to her office at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh, a 50-year-old senior staff nurse is said to have committed suicide.

The Advanced Paediatric Centre (APC) of PGIMER’s X-ray department was overseen by Narinder Kaur, a resident of Sector 35.

Divya, Kaur’s coworker, allegedly tried to enter the lavatory but discovered that it was locked from the inside. Another member of the nursing staff, Divya, kept knocking on the door. She informed the security officers and other staff members when she did not receive a response from inside. After forcing the toilet door open, Kaur was discovered dead inside.

“Some reports indicate that the victim was being harassed, and her family members were advised to file a formal complaint,” a police source stated. Around 8:30 a.m., Narinder Kaur arrived at her workplace, and her corpse wasn’t discovered until 10:30 a.m.

The woman was taken to the PGIMER emergency room, but according to a police officer, the physicians pronounced her dead. The officer said, “As of yet, we have not discovered any suicide notes in the victim’s possession.”

A team of forensic specialists entered the room and gathered some hints from the surroundings. At the Sector 11 police station, an inquest has been opened by the police.
