In a remarkable display of quick thinking and resourcefulness, a 13-year-old girl from Uttar Pradesh, India, averted a potentially dangerous situation using modern technology. Nikita, from Basti district, found herself in a perilous predicament when a monkey invaded her home while she was playing with her one-year-old niece.
The incident unfolded in Nikita’s sister’s house, where she had been enjoying time with her niece near the kitchen on the first floor. Suddenly, a monkey managed to gain entry into the home, creating chaos by tossing utensils and posing a threat to the young girls.
With no immediate help at hand and the situation escalating, Nikita sprang into action. Utilizing an AI device, specifically Amazon’s virtual voice assistant, Alexa, she issued a command for the device to emit a barking sound, a tactic commonly used to scare off unwanted intruders.
Recalling the harrowing event, Nikita stated, “The kid was scared and so did I but then I saw Alexa and asked it to play the sound of a dog. Because of that barking sound, the monkeys were scared and ran away,” as reported by ANI.
This incident highlights the potential of technology, when combined with innovative thinking, to mitigate dangerous situations and even save lives. Nikita’s quick decision to leverage Alexa’s capabilities proved instrumental in warding off the monkey and ensuring the safety of herself and her niece.
